erm...i'm using microscopic fossils called foraminifera to assess characteristics of past tsunamis that have hit Australia...like..where they occurred, when, what might have caused them, oceanographic conditions at the time, etc...
i'm doing a chunk of the research Geoscience Australia needs to do to develop a tsunami warning system for our east coast...
hopefully ze give me funding moolah cos i'm helping them out  Cheesy

Aren't we protected by Indonesia, New Zealand, Tasmania and Western Australia  XD

If its big enough to go through those defenses can we do anything to save ourselves?

EDIT: its like our Australian defensive plan; abandon 2/3 of our country and protect NSW and Victoria  OH NOES!

Urrh..no...we're not protected  XD the pacific hosts the majority of tsunami...but pretty much any plate boundary or even a mere massive sediment slump off a continental plate boundary can generate a tsunami..doesn't have to be an earth quake or an eruption...we do receive some protection from the GBR and some other countries...but we've had tsunami in the past and we've even had one this year (even though it was like...erm...some piddly little thing Undecided)
