Here are the guidelines on posting in Anime@UTS forum and a general etiquette for other forums:

1. If the thread is a sticky, or an announcement, PLEASE for the love of Kerensky, do not spam unnecessary stuff.
2. Do not 'double post'. Please check what you type and remove if necessary.
3. Refrain from going into topics about fetishes and sexual misconduct. Minors visit these forums, and UTS Union may also be contacted if members find it 'disgusting'.
4. Arguments/debates are alright. Keep it within reason. Steering off topic and begin insulting each other eg. "your mum is a *expletive*" will not be tolerated. I will ban individuals for misconduct.
5. If you feel like steering topic, please start a new thread. Not within a current thread.
6. Please refrain from posting garbage which is clearly for one person to notice. Thats what instant messengers like MSN and google talk are for.
7. Spamming to tell someone else to stop spamming is not cool.
8. Bring threads back to life from ages ago *known as thread necromancy* is not tolerated.
9. Never ever post any link to places where you can download anime (licensed or not) as it means we are promoting download of anime. There is no such thing as free. If anime is free, people who make these great series will live off grains of rice. If you want to talk about anime, fine, but do not promote the piracy of it.

I will add more if any subsequent issues arise.

Be nice, and have fun posting!

I would like to bring people's attention to this thread because clearly it has been ignored.

There's been a lot of spam happening in the forum and while it's good to have activity, it's kind of clogging up the place. It has become increasingly difficult to follow most of what's going on in here. Announcement or discussion threads for club activities have gotten pages and pages of irrelevant spam posts attached to them.

Sure, it's no harm. I can see people are having a lot of fun posting, and that is why I've been turning a blind eye. But understand this. The club forum is intended for all members of the club and since it's part of the whole AnimeSydney forum, it should be friendly to people in other clubs, too.

Not visitor-friendly? That's right. The place has become cliquey. A lot of the threads have turned into personal conversations - and imagine how it would look if you were a new member and didn't know anyone and had no idea what was going on. You wouldn't be able to say anything in any of the threads because they've all steered off their original topics and become chats between people who know each other all too well. Even if someone only wanted to check out the club announcements, they get confused because the threads are like 10 pages long.

You want to chat? Spam the chatty threads (start them! don't hijack existing threads), talk on IRC, talk on MSN, whatever. Please use your time to make one good/informed post instead of ten one-liner posts in ten different threads that are just replies to the post above you because you never actually read the thread!

Another thing is spelling and punctuation. I cannot stress this enough. It's not cool to type "u" instead of "you". Capital letters and full stops are what make sentences readable. Maybe you're saving time by hitting less keys on your keyboard, but it's inconveniencing others who have to read the AOL-speak. Trust me, there are ways to be funny without talking like that.

You have a right to post and have fun; other people also have a right to be part of the forum and participate without getting lost in the spam or getting blinded by the bad typing.

SUMMARY:
(1) Before you decide to reply to a thread, think to yourself: I am making a POST on the INTERNET for people to read. Is this going to contribute in any way? Does it make a difference whether I post or not?
(2) Punctuation is your friend. Use it.

We make an effort to not link to any anime, as whilst it may be unlicensed today, it may not remain so tomorrow. You'll also find a far few sites do not allow links to anime, even if they're unlicensed.

then wouldn't it be better to have a random spam thread section? like the one SU has
and those public chatting places are dangerous these days you don't know what kind of person you might be talking to and those situations that you see in the news might happen!!

Umm...that post was over a year ago. Try and read the dates of posts before commenting on them.
