Hey everyone!

If you were at the AGM or screenings you might have heard me talk about wanting to run club group projects. So here's an idea for the very first one.

Geoffrey and I have been toying with the idea of making a re-edited and re-dubbed version of an anime for the fun of working on something and producing a video of total insanity. So we thought of this as a starting point:

Quote
Panda-D Project is a multi-lateral effort to re-edit and to re-dub the children's television series Panda-Z in order to grant it even more insane levels of comedy than it already possessed.

For those of you at last weeks Thursday screening, you'd have caught the first two episodes of Panda-Z I'm sure you'd agree that there's a lot that could be done with this idea.
At this point in time even the series used  to dub is in question. Suggestions for other anime is also welcome.
We will need people to help brainstorm, write, edit and voice act. So there's plenty of different aspects to be involved in.
This could make a really great project over the summer holidays to fill in some of that time where uni normally is, with something cool and different.

Is anyone interested in doing this? If so, leave a message here, or contact me some via email or IRC.

If people are interested, I'll arrange to have a project meeting to get the ball rolling! \o/

EDIT: We gots a wiki (user editable site) so we can gather ideas and organise stuff. It can be found at http://pdp.jauws.org

Once at least some of the script is done, we can dub short sections. Depending on how we plan to sync up the voices with the video.
This would be a good issue to be brought up at the meeting when it happens.

Hooray we have at least 4 people now! \o/

Would we be able to put in our own subs?  That way we can do the 'voices' in a weebl and bob style XD.
Imagine the possibilities.....!

That's an idea, though I think that it's easier to convey humor through speech than through text.
It could be funny if worked into a short scene but I don't think it'd be the best idea to do for the whole thing.

Great just the thing I have been wanting to try!

I can keep up to date on my editing skills during the hollies too!

I can help with editing, writing or pretty much anything as long as it doesn't involve me having to actually animate - I am hopeless at it.

Oh and I have Sony Vegas which we can use to edit with >.< haha!

I'll try and get my fellow art students active in this... gives us something to do, plus if this really turns out good, we could enter next year's animania fandubbing /amv competitions. ^_^

I am yet to see this anime, as I have missed out the last two weeks of Thursday's anime due to being behind in uni work.

In fact its due to filming a video for Video Project (a 3rd year media arts class I somehow managed to get into... ^^, )... Once finished I will upload it onot youtube for all to see....

Anyhoo check out my vid I did last semester: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k51TnhhlmRY

Well get back to me on it.

Hooray, more people! \o/
By the looks of your clip on YouTube you'd have all the skills needed to help with the video. I'm not really planning to use anything other than the original animation. Except animate mouth movements maybe. Haven't thought that far ahead yet. ^^;;

Actually getting it screened at next years Animania was sort of something I wanted to try to make happen. Yup.

The episodes are about 5 minutes long so I might throw a few into todays screening too.

Yeah Vegas was one of the programs I've been using for a while now. I like it better than premiere. I approve!

Alright I guess with at least 5-8 people we can get this started. How about we hold a planning meeting in the first week of holidays? We can watch a few episodes of Panda-Z and bring up some ideas for what/how to get stuff done. Is this a good time for everyone else?

I'll port across a wiki for the current ideas Geoff and I have this week.

Here's a Demo of the OP done with some clips from the original OP and eps 1 and 30.

Song is "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" by Me First and The Gimme Gimmes.

Edited in iMovie because I did it at home Sad

Note: This is just what I've done so far and is likely to be cut, mashed and reedited again.

I've finally got the wiki set up for everyone to kick ideas about on.
Here's the link http://pdp.jauws.org/
It works the same as wikipedia. Sign yourself up for an account and then at the top of any page click edit and you can add stuff to that page. To make a new page just create a link to it and then the page will be created. If anyone needs help with it I'll throw up some links to some wiki guides. Have fun! =3

Bump!
New scenarios put together by Geoffery, Sith and myself are now up.
Check http://pdp.jauws.org/ for Green Man Defense BLAM / Green Man Detective Force 5! and the latest ideas for Amy Lee in Space.

Anyone have thoughts on where to go with this? Also maybe people can send in stuff for Animania's fandub comp? Info can be found here: http://www.animania.net.au/fan_dub

I don't want to rock the boat here or anything but it might possibly be time to unsticky this topic. Just putting that out there, you know.
