I've heard about a anime distributor company in Hong Kong sued 3 blogs of Doraemon fans because of they are using the photos and data of Doraemon. Recently the CD publishers guild IFPI started to patrol the internet 24 hours for find and prosecute the bloggers who uploaded musics in their blogs.
This is horrible......I know that Hong Kong had experienced the dark age of pirated CDs and videos. Since they had successfully caught many P2P website admins, uploaders and downloaders in the last two years. However, now they are overdoing for that, isn't it?
I know that Australia have more freedom to transfer creations through the internet and support creative common licenses, but I want to know the copyright policy in Australia clearly.

Here is a controversy:
In the majority of Doujinshi(Fanzines) are parodies from some manga and anime. Nevertheless, The manga and anime have copyrights. Do you think fanzines offend the copyrights?

If its a parody/satire of an animated or a manga serial, then the author would not be offended. However, if the person uses materials without the creator's permission, then an infringement will occur.

With doujinshi, the infringement is always there. Whether the owner of the intellectual property wants to do something about it is another story. Like Rinoa said, if it's a healthy parody or satire generally people won't act. But for example, Aquastyle had all their Malignant Variation Final stock confiscated at Comiket 69 by the holder of the rights to Doraemon (forgot who holds it right now, but it's not the original creator Fujiko F Fujio because he has been dead for a few years now). The content in it wasn't bad or X rated. It was a very healthy parody using Super Robot Wars style combat scenes, involving Nobita in parodies like The Big O and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure with Doraemon as his Stand (also with Kiteretsu from Kiteretsu Daihyakka/Encyclopedia and Korosuke as his Stand). Nonetheless, the holder exercised their rights and stopped the sale of this fan-made item. There was also stuff from Anpanman which parodied King of Braves GaoGaiGar/GaoGaiGar Final. Funnily enough, at Comiket 71, Aquastyle sold Kite's Bizarre Adventure, which is basically the above, minus the Anpanman bits. Perhaps it was Anpanman content that had their copyright holders up in arms and I mistakenly remembered it was Doraemon content that had it confiscated... Not relevant to Australia really, though...

Yea, plagiarize people's stories and characters is wrong, but what about the uses of screenshots or pictures related to manga and anime? I will be prosecuted if I use those pictures? SOB......
Hell......I'm so disappointed to Hong Kong......These people do this for defending their f**king monopoly! (You want to use my picture? Pay for the license to me first!)That's a extremely stupid idea to sue bloggers who use someone's picture.
Many game's official websites provide the fansite kits or wallpapers download to the fans and bloggers, and they can use it freely. Furthermore, It is a good advertisement because it can prove how much people like to purchase their company's products. Therefore, you know that the capitalists in HK are idiots. They are doing the opposite things against the world's trend.
In other countries such as Australia, Eurpoe, America, even in Japan still support the freedom of creation sharing. I feel glad to be here because it is a good place to develop ACG culture here.

If you use someone's artwork say screenshots and or pictures, its best to acknowledge who the original creator as a way to convey that you were inspired by their work. Unless if you didn't (the laws are different according to each countries' rules on copyright), you'll either get a slap on the wrist or, if the original creator goes anal, a lawsuit against you.
So in other words, if you put a disclaimer on any publications (website, reports, etc) you'll be fine.

It's hard to imagine that Madman Entertainment will sue us if we use the anime screenshots or anime informations in our blogs......

I don't think you will be sued by Madman at all if you post screenshots of anime. But like I said, as long as you acknowledge the original author, you'll be fine.

How can an anime distributor company sue the bloggers instead of the author sue the blogger by himself!? By the way, Fujiko Pro. was passed away ten years ago......

Fujiko Pro is the company that holds the rights to Doraemon after Fujiko F Fujio passed away. But they are still producing new episodes of Doraemon, as evident with the recent replacement of the old voice actors, as well as the renewed version of the first Doraemon movie a year or so ago. I don't think you will be sued by Madman at all if you post screenshots of anime. But like I said, as long as you acknowledge the original author, you'll be fine. So that was ridiculous! How can an anime distributor company sue the bloggers instead of the author sue the blogger by himself!? By the way, Fujiko Pro. was passed away ten years ago...... Because the distributor may hold the right to all media and artwork distribution in the country, depending on the wording of the contract.

Draw your own pictures to post them on your blog, then at the bottom you just say from which anime the picture was inpired and which distributor/production company owns the title. As Rinoa | Kawaii Miko said, always acknowledge the origin.
