I have noticed the past day or two, that my download speed is uncapped, if i download past 1am in the morning, even if I am capped. This only applies to TPG ADSL2 at the moment, which I'm on the 30GB plan. I wonder if anyone else can verify this? if so, we can rejoice a bit ^^ Also, the hard cap of 128/128Kbits after exceeding download limit has a flaw, seems like I can still upload at full speed.

Dude I noticed this too! I just got uncapped yesterday so I can't be 100% sure but few days before that I was capped, and my ADSL2 router was playing up so I switched back to my old normal ADSL modem and I left a torrent to download all night. When I woke up I checked up on it and average download speed throughout the night was around 50kb/s, which is way more than the 12kb I should have had. I'm on the exact same plan as you. I thought it was due to the modem but maybe not

In the old days, Mobile Network Services had this kind of problem with prepaid plans and people not being cut off when they reach 0 dollars. I wonder why ISPs don't put similar hour 0 measures?

I didn't even know TPG capped uploads. Back when I had their 1.5Mb plan my upload speed was never capped.

If so, I bet you weren't on Prepaid Plus. And this trick definitely shouldn't work on Telstra any more.

nope, i am with Optus Prepaid, well Optus Boost back then, but after i switched to the "new" optus Prepaid option about 2 years ago, i was able to do that anyway. I haven't tired it recently since i used the $10 sms card.

I don't know about Optus, but if they use similar vendors for prepaid platforms like the ones Telstra used before Prepaid Plus (which uses a much BETTER designed system than the one for the old Prepaid) then I can see why they have this revenue leakage. (Some carriers use the same vendor for similar technologies.)
Telstra had to plug their revenue leakage in their old Prepaid plans with intervention from another vendor.
The reasons for the leakage was stupid, really. Right down to a design fault that the original vendor did not fix themselves.

If only my local exchange supported ADSL2 already. I'd totally be up for some of that. Hurry up TPG! Dépêche mode desu! I'd really like if they fixed the proxy situation more though.

Bah - my exchange has been TPG ADSL2+ "delayed" for a year after passing all technical prequalification! Grrr... There's a guy on Whirlpool who's done up some weird script or something to cycle through the known proxies if that helps you

There's a guy on Whirlpool who's done up some weird script or something to cycle through the known proxies if that helps you Yeah I saw that, it's basically a config for a squid proxy. But first you need to be running a squid proxy
