I have a question. Why are all (or most) of the anime clubs showing licenced anime?

because we are so badass we can ignore international copyright law.

FYI:

Wolf's Rain
Read Or Die
Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu

have all been shown before hrrm...
and I doubt that you can fit the whole of wolf rain into one session either...

so Im going for:

Chrono Crusade
Jigoku Shoujo
Kimi ga Nozomu Eien

Wolf's Rain can actually be squeezed into one session since there are 3-4 episodes in a row that are recaps, so there are basically only 26 episodes  Roll Eyes
I actually thought it rather boring...but its just personal opinion

Personally, I'm not FOR showing a lot of licensed anime, simply because they're readily obtainable anyway and defeats the purpose of the club being innovative and niche. If you want to watch licensed stuff, you can either buy, rent or obtain by other means. But it wasn't my final word at the end of it all.

To me, it's not as though I think screening licenced anime is bad, but if you guys have permission from Madman or something, you would've thought they'd let ya show better anime than freaking Wolf's Rain or Kimi ga Nozomu Eien. UTS for example is showing Death Note (and Naruto if you're into that stuff).

death note and naruto (minus fillers) are both good, but quite mainstream and i would think that many people would have watched at least some of it? or am i assuming too much? Tongue

i dont mind watching stuff i've never heard of (ie 80% of the choices on the list) so long as they, you know, dont suck ...

i have a question ... we're watching jap audio with eng subs right? right? right? strictly no dubs?  Shocked tell me thats true ...

Ya, it was just an example. But I would rather go and watch good licenced anime than the boring unlicenced anime like Utawaremono we had to watch for like the whole semester...I mean.....

PS. No Kimi ga Nozomu Eien this semester please. Don't get me started on that.

death to dubs

and all of naruto has been shown before in marathons before unless you want to include the retarded fillers. As for the new season theres not enough episodes out to fill a session's worth.

I agree with finding decent anime thats relatively new and usually they are not licenced OH NOES! and hopefully not too many people has seen it before...as compared to some licenced anime thats been watched to Death

Note: Im just ranting now  Lips Sealed

Blasphemy! That was actually the only anime I came to watch last semester. I'd say it was great about 80% of the way through, but the ending was a bit disappointing. I'd prefer that over ROD anyday, which was good for the first episode and sucked the rest of the way.

I've seen Fumoffu!, but I wouldn't mind watching it again. Is Code Geass the mecha anime with the blatant Pizza Hut advertising? I suggest screening that prior to the pizza break.

Do clubs try their best to deliberately avoid screening stuff other clubs have screened? It kinda seems that way. Don't know if it's the "grass is greener elsewhere" mentality, but USyd always has pretty good stuff on which we never see.

Also, are you guys using that radio button poll from previous semesters? Cause that looks much more efficient. What if someone decides to edit their votes on the forums?

Yep, thanks to everyone for their votes. The top three stood ahead by a fair margin, but there were a lot of shows sitting on 4th place.

I'll take this opportunity to answer some of the questions that cropped up.

Venue location has not yet been finalised; you'll get that by tomorrow at latest.
The time will be 4:00 on this Friday, barring unforseen badness.
Anonymous voting is and was still possible: that's what the email reply option was for.

I'll release the winners shortly, so stay tuned!
And with that, I declare this topic LOCKED!
