dunno if this is practical/allowed, animeMQ could help its members keep up to date with various ongoing anime (im not suggesting anything illegal :p) by purchasing a small hard disk drive (hdd) and an external usb hdd enclosure. on loan library day, hook up the hdd via usb to any of the uni computers (or a laptop), and members could put their usb flash disks into another usb slot, and obtain any of the episodes contained on that hard disk. people like myself (I have the 60gb optus cable plan thingo, so I keep up to date with all the anime I watch etc) would bring the various weekly releases and put it on the hdd. nowadays, hard disks are v cheap, you can obtain an 80gig hdd for sub $100. a hdd enclosure can be obtained for sub $50 (can get a cheap quality one for 20ish, but good ones are 40ish).

dunno, thought came to mind cause i saw someone comment about only having seen 1 shippuden ep. I dont mind helping a couple of people keep up to date with any series.

PS
if this is a good idea, but funds arent available, id be willing to chip in if a few volunteers want to buy it for animeMQ

PPS
sorry, im sorta new (to both anime, and animemq), so forgive if this is a harebrained suggestion Smiley

1. Uni computers are notoriously difficult to get access to for the purpose you are suggesting.
2. It is loans library policy to only put in complete seasons for borrowing.
3. We do not encourage the use of HDD's for mass-borrowing things.

mmm
it wouldnt really be borrowing, more like getting eps as they come out for those who dont have net access at home or whatever

and people wouldnt be borrowing hdds. just bring in a usb flash disk they own, then transfer

I guess if you want to you could arrange it within your own time amongst your friends to do it. But at the moment I do not believe it is feasible for AnimeMQ to administer it.

It's really not feasible for animemq to do something like that, since we only really handle series once they are complete or are a dvd full.

There have been people in the past who do similar things in the background of loanslibrary.

But, hey it's not like there aren't plenty of other series to enjoy in the mean time. Wink

Loans Library Coordinator here.
One of the biggest things that stops this kind of stuff is time. DVD +/-R's, USB flash drives and hard drives can prove to be horrendously slow at times epecially when transferring several > 250 MB files from one to the other. Also you'd be practically limited to doing this on your own notebooks. Then there is the problem of micromanaging several series at an episode level which would make things harder. By all means go ahead and do this with your friends and their Laptops in the Loans Library hour. The best thing you can do to do to contribute is burn the series you watch on a weekly basis when they finish or for something long running like Bleach or Prince of Tennis, burn it when it hits 25 episodes (enough for one DVD). I think AnimeMQ can provide blank DVD's if you'd like but they're cheap anyway.

Loans Libraries are usually associated with un licensed anime, and as such you will not be able to buy the official dvd.

Yes, please don't give us licensed anime to add to the loans library. We can't accept it but still buy the official DVD's for yourself and comply with copyright ethics anyway. Anime Companies and Creators need all the love (read money) they can get.
