With the confirmation of the official date of our outing as Friday 18th of May I'd like to discuss some transport options with the AnimeMQ members (and guests).Dendy Cinemas Newtown has several options for transport. There's free parking when validated with a ticket and the cinemas are a short walk from Newtown train station.

The AnimeMQ organised options will be-
Cavalry Convoy - Members who drive or who have negotiated to travel with one will meet up with a driving Executive in the carpark behind E6A (might change this to a bigger one if there's more cars) at 1630. At 1645 we leave the uni and head toward Lane Cove Road and follow LCR, Homebush bay drive and whatever else it becomes all the way to Newtown and then we navigate to the cinema carpark to arrive before 1745. Times can be pushed back and forth to accomodate dinner and exact start times but we need to get there fairly early to organise the tickets. Also I will plan a more exact route later.

Infantry March - Members will meet up with an Executive at Epping station and will catch the same train (State transport website recomended 1654 to Strathfield) then walking from Newtown to the cinema as a group formation. The meetup can be pushed back to the Uni bus stop and the trip can include a bus ride if people need it.

For the independent options pick the Special forces Raid if you're bringing other people with you and Ninja Assasination if you will be alone.

Personally I will be driving. I don't mind leading the convoy and bringing some people I know or I can get to Newtown early and wait for people.

So reply and tell me how you want to get there.

This thread doesn't seem to be very popular. Anyway for those who do want to go you should try and get there before 1745 ( quarter to six for non-military people) so we can organise the tickets properly. This is early but it will give us time to deal with problems that come up. Plus after everything is sorted you can have dinner at any one of Newtown's fine dining establishments or go window shopping.

I'll leave from either MQ uni at around 4 - 4:30, and meet up with people along the way to the cinema's.

I can give my mobile phone number out to people who privately contact me, wanting directions on the day - ever to meet up or are heading there separately.

For those who aren't sure about where the cinema's are located, here is a handy google map with directions from the station,

Hi all;

I'll be driving up from Wollongong after work so can pick up anyone who happens to need a lift starting from most places south of the city.

Its official. The session of Tales from Earthsea is the 1900 session at Dendy Cinemas Newtown. Please be there at 1745 so we can count you all and distribute the tickets. I will be there earlier possibly in unrelated cosplay or otherwise in a fasionable AnimeMQ polo style shirt and standing next to an AnimeMQ banner/sign. If you have said you can come please do. If you haven't said you can come your best bet is to come early and be counted.

A last minute update if any one needs it:

Make sure you get your name marked off and give your money to the leader Executive if you are taking a transport group OR (exclusive) myself at Dendy if you are making your own way.

If you are taking the train, take the King St. Exit of newtown train station and turn right. Continue along King St. and cross at a Pedestrian crossing to get to the Dendy.

If you are driving and want to park in the Dendy cinemas carpark the entrance is on Lennox St. Approach Lennox from either Mary St., Eliza St or Australia St. Avoid approaching Lennox from Church St. since the entrance to lennox is one way in the opposite direction. There is no access to the cinema from the carpark so walk out of the parking lot and either go through the Franklins supermarket or around the block to King st. Once you recieve a ticket register your number plate with the box office so they know you're a customer.

A big thanks to the MQ for organising the event, whilst I'm sure we all have a similar opinion of the movie... it was good to catch up with (almost) everyone from the various clubs Smiley
