Yep, it's that time again: Time to pick what manner of awesome we'll be exposing ourselves to in the coming semester. Here's the list of potential shows, along with brief descriptions. I'll try keep it as spoiler-free as possible.
Tokyo Majin Gakuen KenpuchouThere's bad juju going down in Tokyo. A group of high-schoolers imbued with mystical Tao powers seek to protect the city and all they hold dear from the malevolent (and quite often icky) forces of the Dark Path.
SolaMorimiya Yorito is a high-schooler who's obsessed with the sky, and taking pictures of its various aspects. Dawn, dusk, midday, funky clouds - it's all good. Enter Matsuri: A girl who also possesses a strong, but somewhat different interest in the sky. Clearly the two get off on the right foot, but who's the sword-wielding man who's chasing her? And why can Yorito never find her during the day? How does Yorito's hospitalized sister fit into all of this?
Note: The title, "Sola", possesses a double meaning in this context. 50 points if you can figure it out. Preferably without internetting it
Gakuen AliceMikan's an ordinary, if somewhat energetic, schoolgirl whose best friend, Hotaru, moves away to attend Alice Academy (aka Gakuen Alice). However, Mikan's not the type to lose her friend so easily! As such, she makes her way to Gakuen Alice to enrol. However, she finds that Gakuen Alice is no ordinary school - it's for kids who exhibit a variety of unusual powers and abilities, and they don't accept "ordinary" students. Fortunately for Mikan, it appears that she possesses a very rare power indeed. Let her fun-filled days at Gakuen Alice begin!
Lovely ComplexKoizumi Risa and Ohtani Atsushi are a really tall girl and a really short guy respectively. Viewed as the class' comedy act due to the fact that they're always at each other's throats, the two share the trials and tribulations of love & school life, with a great sense of humour.
Sumomo mo momo moInuzuka Koshi is the heir of a great martial arts practicing family, despite not having any real interest in martial arts. Kuzuryu Momoko is a strong martial artist who approaches Inuzuka with the idea that their child will be the most powerful martial artist ever!
Talk about awkward.
ClaymoreYoma are beings which feast upon the guts (and various other organs if they're in the mood) of humans. Unfortunately for humans, Yoma are very adept at doing so, and even the strongest humans have almost no chance against the weakest of Yoma. In order to protect themselves, the humans mastered a technique of mixing the blood of humans and Yoma, to create the order of Claymores: fierce Half-human, half-Yoma warriors who are hired to dispatch of Yoma wherever they may appear. As hated as they are indispensable, the Claymores are mankind's only defense against the Yoma. Clare is one such Claymore.
Shakugan no ShanaUnlike Yoma, Tomogara cut out the middleman and simply feast upon the sheer force of existence that every human carries within them. Messing around with existence like this is invariably a bad thing. As such Flame Hazes, a group of humans who have made pacts with "good" Tomogara (who don't go around eating existence) exist to fight off the Tomogara and maintain the balance. Sakai Yuji is drawn into this ever-changing world of plots and danger after being saved from a Tomogara by a flame-haired girl with no name, and no purpose other than to hunt Tomogara.
Unfortunately for Yuji, that's the LEAST of his surprises.
Denno CoilI don't actually know much about this show, but it's got awesome technology in it and those fuzzy-dust-ball things, so it's gotta be awesome, right?!
Black LagoonOkajima Rokuro is visiting Southeast Asia to deliver a top secret disk, but is captured by pirates! Instead of trying to rescue him, his organisation simply sends mercenaries to take the disk off his corpse. After realising this, Rokuro is left with no benefactor and nowhere to go... so he chooses to become a crewman of the pirate ship, the Black Lagoon.
(Haven't actually seen any of Black Lagoon, so my apologies if some details are inaccurate)
Gurren LagannIn the future, people are eking out a living in underground caves, in constant fear of earthquakes, cave-ins, etc. In one of these towns, Jeeha, a boy named Simon finds a strange metal drill. At the same time, Kamina is a guy who believes that there's another world on the surface. He is soon proven correct as a robot blasts through the cave ceiling.
Asatte no HoukouKarada-chan is a twelve-year-old on the verge of entering high school. Shouko is a 24-year-old woman who's come to Karada's sleepy town to escape her past and start anew. Not much more can be said without beginning to spoil things, but I can say that it's a great show with an awesome atmosphere, but it's not for people who don't like slow-paced shows which look at life & whatnot rather than epic plots.
Kaze no StigmaLooks like there's a flaming sword involved.
... clearly I haven't seen this show

Right! That's the list. The system's easy: Email me at

Until later, BOGGOUT!
