Hi guys,

I have a question. I'm planning to get the entire Love Hina series from Madman. I know that Tokyopop has released the whole series already. Is madman getting the same translation as tokyopop? Or are they doing their own ones?

Should be the same translation.  I think Madman only licenses/distributes the original in Australia so it should be cheaper than before.

i would get the jap versions but i dun understand jap...*sighs* i would love for the madman/tokyopop versions to be the same translations as download versions but sadly that isn't possible Sad heck i wouldn't mind helping if somebody was willing to redo Love Hina scanlation. The Original scanlations look pretty bad since people didn't really bother with editing and adding sidenotes and stuff.

hmmmm i got the books, they're chuangyi translations...so far they seem okay. anybody had any issues with them at all? eg: not keeping to the proper translation, censorship, missing pages, etc?

oh a huge difference is that the mangas aren't in right to left orientation, they've mirrored the whole thing and did the book left to right.

Kitsune's name's been shortened to just 'Kit' hrrm......or 'Kit Fox'

Also alotta people's been talking about how keitaro always calls naru by her last name, this has not changed in the chuangyi translations, keitaro still refers to naru as narusegawa (to maintain that sort of respect or something)

Shinobu calls keitaro 'Mr. Urashima' not senpai (in fact i highly doubt there's any 'senpai' honorific used in the manga at all since i highly doubt they'd bother to explain it's use)

lol half way through the first volume... no such thing as 'tonkatsu' (is that how you spell it? the table in which they all sit down to study?) it's just called a 'heating table'.

man i dun think there's anything remotely japanese anymore in this =(

oh and not such a big problem, hinata inn is changed to hinata lodge

chuangyi should be a whole lot better than tokyopop's. I have the tokyopop's version... and man do they suck. They don't do any clone stamping; i.e they don't redraw scenes where there was once text, so you get this effect where there is little english surrounded by craploads of white text. They also seem to not follow through QC'ing. Sometimes chuangyi will also give you colour pages, better quality paper or hard cover (as in my Trigun book). Seems like madman did the work and gets us the good stuff!

Tonkatsu is food...kotatsu is heater table quilt thingo. XD Just thought I'd mention that. I have no idea about the differences, though, but from what mechjman says Tokyopop sounds rather lazy. :/
