i enjoyed azumanga too  not sure if these'll correlate to 'modern day problems/slapstick' well, but heres some comedy-esque anime i liked (~8/10+ on anidb): Lovely Complex Clannad Haruhi Puni Puni Poemy Excel Saga Sumomomo momomo I dont think any of them fit in to the azumanga 'mould' persay though; Clannad is less focused on comedy, although i rly enjoyed the story as a whole and the comedy in it. PPP is brilliant ecchi + humour. Excel saga is twisted humour. The only show other than azumanga ive seen thats 'slice of life' is lucky star - and besides the opening animation (omfg brilliance ^_^) it pales in comparison and was tough to watch all the way through imo. although lucky channel was brilliant  EDIT: Hayate no Gotoku too - although not every episode is great, its good for the most part... 52 episodes, and it starts to get a bit stale towards the end imo EDIT2: OMG CHOBITS!!!! <----- WATCH NOW!!! xD EDIT3: Kyou no go no ni... if u can appreciate the ecchi parody |

omg i didnt mention GTO either!?!?! that and ouran host club are most definitely hilarious (GTO was absolutely brilliant though, both story and humour imo - watch NOW!)
if its not licensed (sum1 check? idunno where to start for finding that kinda stuff out) i could burn it for the lending library. 10.1gb = what... 3 DVDs?
