Ok, I can't make the AGM  Cry Ok i don't know all that many of you. Ok 'L' from Death Note I have to admit that guy is smarter then me though few can hold that title, lol. But one thing I do know I would be dedicated as a librarian for the SU Anime club. Yes I go to another Uni but I can be classed as an 'honorary librarian' according to Ben, and the uni I go to is only like 20 minutes away, I would also be available not just in the screenings to give people disks.

For more you'll all have to attend the AGM and see my speech being read lol. A real suspenseful item Smiley

So before it turns into a popularity contest  Cheesy Vote for me, John-Stuart Plant

My multiple catch phrases: 'The appliance of science', 'L is real, I do exist'....

I think the idea is to message Ben about what's happening, and what/who you'd like them to say.

I think being a librarian means alot more than simply lending ppl discs and meeting up with ppl....

If you actually know what's actually happening with our current library you should be aware that alot more needs to be done. That means, updating the list on the web as well as providing info on the available series. You should also be overally familiar with a majority of the series on loan, otherwise how would u recommend stuff to someone if they ask you. This is not a laid back job. It's not that Ben didn't do a good job as a librarian but if you are as enthusiastic as you say you are, I think you need to try alot harder than Ben did.

Ben did recommend me the position as librarian, but I do not have a good home bandwidth to accept requests. Also, I have more interest as screenings director, which is what I do every friday.

Jack Right?
I know. I might say I'm enthusiastic etc, on the outside but on the inside I know its a tough job which I plan to take very seriously if I get in. Ben also asked if I wanted to do it. I have access to a reasonably 'healthy' bandwidth and I'd watch all the anime or as much as possible over the summer holidays in the library. I know how much work needs to be done, and rest assured I am always diligent in any task I set my mind to.

Might I just add that it's possible that we'll be combining the role of Screenings Director and Librarian for 2009... *might being the key word...

It's not that I'm discouraging you from being either Librarian or Screenings Director, but generally the Screenings Director is usually someone who spends a lot of time watching new anime and therefore already has a good database on anime covering a range of genres and styles. (Unless of course you're someone who's only watching a specific genre, style or series only)

In essence, the librarian role requires that the database be regularly updated and maintained, and the loans sorted through properly... Screenings director, on the other hand, manages the weekly screenings and any marathon events with other clubs (inside or outside of campus). Pretty much what this means is that the two roles more or less balance each other and are pretty easy to do by someone who's well organised, and from experience, both tasks can be handled by one exec as opposed to two as we've had so far...

On top of that, should the librarian have trouble dling most anime, help is at hand with donations from other execs *it doesn't hurt to ask if you're willing to compile and watch it yourself so you can make recommendations / write reviews if you want to! And updating the list online is easy, you just need to spend 5min of your time to fix it, which means you need to be committed to a good job!

Any other comments and suggestions?

Yeah I know Ben was explaining all this to me, he was saying that the combining probably won't go ahead. I can watch all the anime in the library and write reviews and things to post up here and on the website and things in the holidays, it can be my project Wink

I spose the reason behind keeping the two roles separate is in the case that the exec doesn't pull his/her weight and becomes pretty much AWOL most of the time... *we've had at least one in the club each year unfortunately

Oh well... all I can say is if you're up for the job, give it your best. If you're not willing to spend some of your time to help out, then being an exec is prolly not what you want to do Tongue

Decision of joining positions or not will probably be made in the AGM, if there's enough enthusiastic people applying then I doubt they'll end up merged, it's more a safety precaution in case we don't get people applying for jobs.  Library and Screenings jobs are pretty similar in some ways and so suit being joined but that doesn't mean they need to be, we'll see what happens on the night Smiley

I've been asking a lot of people to consider all positions so I'm really hoping for a good AGM without having the standard situation of everyone knowing who will be in before the AGM begins, I'd love to have people actively working to get and keep the positions.  Being an exec isn't an insane amount of work but it does require effort, it'll be good to have an active team next year!

Keep in mind, if anyone doesn't become an exec that wanted too, please consider joining the chibi team and helping out in that way, I believe chibis are allowed at meeting (though it's not necessary) and can have a say in everything as well as being active members for the community, as a chibi, if any exec ends up standing down for any reason then it's more likely that you would be allowed to take over their position.

So I hope everyone's looking forward to the AGM and we get a good turn out and a lot of active awesome execs Cheesy

Why do I sense some sort of rivalry here... ;_;  I wonder who else in interested in the execs I might go for... =.=;;

Haha lol, I might. Im not sure we've met yet, although we've probably seen each other at the screenings  Smiley

Melbourne vs. Manly GF Hmmm sounds like Deja Vu all over again.  XD
EH?! Y-you've seen me at the screenings? o.o

... Do you go to screenings on Tuesdays and Thursdays?  >.>;;;

Oh that reminds me... Since you're from a different uni- will you be able to attend to exec meetings? o.o  They're held like eveyr week (unless it's changed now or am I'm wrong T_T )

In my opinion even though you 'are' designated to a specific duty as the librarian, it doesn't mean that you just do your thing. Ya gotta be able to help everybody out.  So it's not really just being a librarian or a screening director etc. It's more about being part of the team and improving Suanime as a whole. So what I'm asking is. Will you be able to help and contribute to Suanime, regardless that you get librarian position?

(PS. don't get pissed off- I'm not trying to taunt/offend you... I'm just voicing out my opinion. So if it does sound like I'm being rude. Then I'm sorry... T_T )

No I'm definitely not offended Smiley, yeah probably I go screenings even sometimes during my lectures lol. At the moment I'm working with Ben to sort through how best I can help the SUAnime club being and all from another uni, but I definitely am willing and able. As is always it depends on my scheduling with Uni and my parents worry about me even though I am turning 21 in January and even if the meetings are after 6pm at night lol. But if such meetings were after 6 and I couldn't come I would definitely email Ben a massive list of ideas to discuss at such exec meetings. Ben hasn't told me about the exec meetings but if I am free and not too late I would certainly try and come.

What you see with me is what you get, I always try to be honest as I have just been here in terms of the possibility of late meetings. People in general I feel would be less likely to disclose such information but again my timetabling and scheduling has never let me down before  Cool. In my opinion the SU Anime club is one of the best clubs in sydney university, and I should know Im a member of quite a few. So yes I would help out.
