Just had a marathon for the last 20 episodes, twas awesome.

Surprised at lack of thread in relation to this show, also there'll be a movie sometime, which I can't wait for.

I rather like it. I haven't seen a macross series properly before, but I really dig the characters and the mechs. Kind of wish there was well...more space dogfights though.
Also at the start I really like the Aimo song, but but ep24 its just,  ....and I swear to gods, if I hear it again I'm going to have to stab somebody.

Ai Oboete Imasuka should have had a bigger role. Hearing the first few words made me warm and fuzzy, but I expected more. Like use it to drive the final battle.

Yerp, the series finished airing a few days ago, and code geass finished today

What movie? Macross: Do You Remember Love?

This is the first time I've watched an all-singing all-dancing mecha war love story, it was interesting.

The animation quality was quite nice even with the CG, and the directors trolling attempts by foreshadowing death for a character like seven times in an episode and then killing off someone completely different kept the plot unpredictable.

Overall, it's pretty good.

With the trolling, it's similarities drawn against DYRL/TV events like:

Osma almost biting the dust in the same episode as he is to eat a pineapple pancake prepared by Cathy.

In DYRL/TV, Skull One/Roy Focker bit the dust protecting the rest of the team when escaping from the Zentradi ship. In DYRL, he died on the ship itself. In TV, Roy bit it after coming back home from the said the encounter with grievous wounds, but he toughed out his wounds to eat a pineapple salad prepared by Claudia, his lover.

It wasn't just that reference ... They jam packed that episode with references and hints...

There was also:
 - Something very similar to *that* death from Full Metal Alchemist. To avoid cross spoiler, it's when the likeable side character starts investigating the conspiracy, alone, and find out a bit too much, gets into a fight with an artificial human...
 - Something very similar to *that* death from Gundam SEED. Those Macross mechs are so much sturdier.... Gundam SEED guy got a res so I'm not sure if it really counts, but the scene was almost exactly the same.
 - The whole cliche coming back to finish the unfinished business (in that case, watching Ranka's show) and then keeling over. (yes, like TV)
 - The other cliche of "My daughter/son/younger sibling/apprentice can take care of him/herself so I think I can die now so s/he gets some character development"...

lol i just finished watching Macross Frontier just then

it was epic =D just the way i like macross to be lol... the songs were pretty decent too

it makes me wanna DL the first movie now lol xD
