Ergo Proxy: I've finally finished this series... it's about... umm... something... to do with... umm... these things... that are... umm.... seen as gods? Ok, I still have no idea what the series was all about xD... although the references that the series made which made it interesting, such as the bible, walt disney, folk lore, and etc, I still had a very hard to comprehending most of the stuff that had occured during the series. Don't take me wrong, the series is not a horribly bad series with no sense, it's just that I was unable to comprehend a majority of the situations which Vincent and Re-l were thrown into each episode (especially during the game show one... don't get me started on that lol). Putting that aside, the graphics and the character development was great, as you are able to dive into each character's psychological thoughts and emotions. When there were action scenes, the animation was very fluid in the movements of the characters. Overall, if you are the type that love psychological thrillers (and probabily be able to write a 50 page report explaining each situation in the series), then I think this would be the anime for you.
10/10 *fine*
Summer Wars: I don't remember if I wrote a review on this but I rewatched it recently in 1080p, which was amazingly good. It is about a boy who solves a huge mathematical puzzle which to his discovery had unleashed havoc in a internet based system, which used around the world which helps assist in the daily lives of people, during the time with his senpai who hired him to pretend to be her boyfriend at her grandmothers house *what a mouthful...*. I don't want to say anymore than I already have seeing as the movie was so epic (and saying anymore would just ruin it for you). The storyline is pretty epic. At first, seeing the name made me think "oh no, it's gonna be really crap and looks like it's gonna be one of those really childish movies", but I thought wrong

. The animation is also so smooth and it is just so entertaining, although it doesn't involve much action, the movements of the characters are very natural. Definately a must watch movie!!!
10/10Gundam Wing: This was the worst gundam series I HAVE EVER SEEN!!! I swear I wanted to beat my head in after each and every episode. First of all, the plot of the story was that 5 gundams had been sent to earth to stop wars... with violence. Typical Gundam series right? Well... here comes my point, for the first few 20 or odd episodes, Wing Gundam had been at the bottom of the ocean!!! This aint a wing gundam now... more like a drowned gundam! And the next problem is that the politics do not make ANY SENSE at all!!! How can a girl go from normal school girl to... *and i won't go any further because it is spoilers*. When there were action scenes, it was absolutely horrible, with a lot of recycled animation, and half the time, the fights were just randomly triggered, like as if it was from some John Woo movie *thank god wing gundam was not wearing a pair of aviators and dual wielding beretta 99Fs*. If you ever watch this series... just watch like the first 10 episodes, skip to the last ten episodes and you have gundam wing in 20 episodes. Why? Because, like i said, too much crappy politics that do not make any sense, and as a result of it, lots of useless dribble and talk in every episode.
4/10Gundam Wing - Endless Waltz: Ok, Gundam Wing was a major flop, right? Right... so I thought "Endless Waltz is gonna suck bad too"... but I was wrong. The OVAs continue 3 years after the events from the series where the gundam pilots have to fight again... yeh 'sounds' like the same crappy storyline. What I loved about this series is that Endless Waltz had redesigned the gundams, with Wing Gundam Zero looking badass with angel wings, a cloaked Sandrock Gundam dual weilding a pair of big ass shotels, Deathsythe looking much more evil, and etc. The storyline worked pretty well with the action scenes of the newly designed gundams, because there is now less politics and constant useless dribble, and more of that gundam on robot action that we love to see.
8/10Gokusen: Ever wonder what if Onizuka from GTO was a Ojou-sama from a Yakuza clan? Well here it is! I guess with that explanation, I really don't need to explain the storyline because it is pretty much the same thing. The series was just great, and the animation of each character is very unique. It definately has plenty of funny moments. However, if you were to tell me to choose between Onizuka or Yamaguchi, I'd choose Onizuka... since he is much more badass. Also, GTO has much better moments than Gokusen. Nevertheless, still a great series to try out.
8/10Fruits Basket: This is a story about a girl who ends up living with the Sohma family, who possess a curse where if they are hugged by the opposite sex from outside the family, they will turn into an animal that is represented in the Chinese Zodiac. First of all, the series did have a lot of funny moments, however the storyline and animation just didn't draw me in. Maybe this is because it is such a shoujo series where there are all these pretty boys where fangirls can go crazy all over. The animation felt really flat and uninteresting. From all the hype I hear from this series, I found it disappointing. However, this would appeal better to girls who are interested in the frail innocent bishounen xD.
3/10Cencoroll: I laughed when I first saw this due to the reference of what I drew during one of our AnimeUNSW art sessions and how it resembled closely to Cenco... *cough*foedalweedle*cough*. The OVA is about a girl who meets a boy that has a big mother of a foetus monster thing that could transform into anything it wants to. The animations itself is pretty awesome and for such a short story, it really gets to the point of explaining a few things. Definately worth a watch
8/10Tales of Versperia - The First Strike: This is my first tales animation that I have watched so far. The movie was just brilliant and amazing. The movie is about the events that happen before the events leading to the Tales of Versperia game. The animation was just epic, with crisp and smooth motion from the characters. Definately worth watching if you are a fan of the 'Tales of' game series.
9/10To Aru Majutsu no Index: The story is about a certain magician named index, as the title of the series indicates lol. Well yeh... it's about a sequence of events about a particular sister named Index and how her life collided with a boy named Touma who has a unique right arm that cancels out any magical or esp power. At first when I watched the first two episodes, I thought to myself, oh god it's going to be another Shakugan no Shana and I'm gonna hate that love fight between two female characters, but it never really happened. The storyline had surprised me and developed some awesome characters that I liked, especially Misako (where she has her own series as well in which I will be reviewing later). The animation was great but the fight scenes could use more... because if u noticed, the characters seem to be standing in the same spot most of the time during their fight with some powerful enemy. Besides that, a great series which incorporates biting as a new form of punishment to main characters xD
9/10To Aru Kagaku no Railgun: As I explained earlier, this series is about one of the characters from the series To Aru Majutsu no Index, which has a storyline about a certain scientific railgun called Misaka. As one of the seven Level 5 espers in Academy City, she also has had adventures of her own which have been occur around the same timeline with the events in To Aru Majutsu no Index. It is pretty much the same thing as To Aru Majutsu no Index in terms of storyline development, and the occassional Touma does appear in the series (TSUNDERE BIRI BIRI!!!) with Index along side. Definately a great series and really a must watch if you loved To Aru no Majutsu no Index.
9/10Uchuu no Stellvia: This series is so much like Mai Hime or Mai Otome in terms of animation but not so much when it comes to the storyline. The storyline takes place in the distant future, approximately 200 years after a supernova from a distant star had caused damage to earth and the solar system, and inorder to prevent this, organisations have set up various space stations to barrier against the second wave that will happen again. The main character is a girl who has set her dreams in going to space to achieve something and ends up experiencing many things along the way, such as love and pain. The series was very entertaining, and the designs of the space ships and the space crafts were really awesome... however they do have the most ugliest mechas ever designed xD. I did say that it was similar in context with Mai Hime and Mai Otome.... and I don't know where to being on explaining the resemblence but I guess you have to watch it to see what I mean (maybe it's because of all the drama in the series dealing with love and friendship). This series would definately be suited for people who love anime that is based about space, or those who like love stories and etc.
7.5/10Outlaw Star: Outlaw Star is one heck of an old anime... and for an old anime, it definately had the Cowboy Bebop flare, except without the western gun showdown style, it was very focused on a chinese/eastern approach. This series is about a man named Gene Starwind who is aiming for the top and during that path, he encounters a mysterious woman who is after something that has been rumoured to possess great fortune to those who find it, the galatic leyline, and the adventure continues from there on. The series is very interesting and it does really remind you of Cowboy Bebop in many was, however with crappier animation. I did like the storyline however it could have worked on explaining several things better during the middle of the episodes rather than at the start of the episodes because it just completely ruins the mood because sometimes you know what to expect during the episode... which kinda ruins it for you, or sometimes it doesn't explain it clearly and your stuck there wondering what the heck just happened. In any case, it's an overall good anime.
7/10Dual Parallel Trouble Adventure: Oh my god... I swear I could not stop laughing at this because of the slight similarities with this and Evangelion series xD. It is about a boy named Kazuki Yotsuga who could see another dimension everyday until one day, an upperclassman, Mitsuki Sanada, had taken him to her father who in which had transported him and her to this parrallel world (yes, much like 'Sliders' lol) where he is caught up between to battle of the Earth Special Defence force and the evil Rara army. Now that I've explained it, I did say that there were slight similarities with Evangelion, where the robot does go into beserk mode, there's a clone called D, the girls all live in the same house as Yotsuga, and etc etc. But don't let that deter you away from watching it because the series was pretty good and it did provide a lot of humor as it is aiming to be funny rather than aim for an emo kid like Shinji. The animation for an old 1999 anime was pretty good too, and it never recycled any images from what I saw. Definately worth watching =D
