I didn't like it compared to the rest of the series. The 26.75 episodes before it was awesome, but then they go "yeah girlfriend dies and Simon becomes a random now".
And Yoko gets jobbed out of romance all the time.

i thought the ending was done very well tbh. No one broke character (death note ending =.=), Nia kind of had to die and at least they had the chance to be married before it happened, and Simon's becoming a random is just his way of handing the spiral power over to the next generation once his sort of obligation to Kamina was complete. We'd already seen that politics wasnt his forté. plus he looked freaking sweet at the very end with that staff w/ the drill on the end xD

Well, he kind of just wandered around the world telling his tale. For a man who saved the universe and stuff, it feels a bit anti-climatic. Also, I didn't really agree with Nia dying. The way that they did it felt like they were killing her off to put another twist in the story.

well i spose i can empathise with the difference in status of Simon.... he kinda *did* save he universe haha. but Nia dying felt right imo - they'd set it up way earlier to come like that, so it didnt really feel like a twist to me, but rather an unfortunate eventuality

It's hard to set up anything in TTGL, since anything can happen as long as you believe in it enough. You could even use spiral power to resurrect people from the dead. The thing is, Simon knew Nia was going to die and he had the power to save her. Instead he opted to let her die and wander off forever.

well it is a world set up like that i spose its possible. but it was something they both accepted. it fit his character - he wasnt the type of person like Kamina. he went back to his roots where he felt more comfortable

I don't disagree with Simon wandering off, since it definitely looked like it was going to happen since the entire gurren team sucked at politics. Just the Nia thing seemed kinda off since you had the "nothing is impossible" stuff happening for the last 27 episodes.

idunno - there *is* the whole impossibility thing running throughout the whole series but i guess maybe he was thinking along the lines of Yoko then - that they shouldnt be playing god.....
