So with Uni finishing I'm putting together a 4th edition D&D game and was wondering if anyone here would be interested?

I'll be using the Scales of War campaign and it will take us from level 1 to level 30.

We'll be playing at the Sydney Games Centre in Burwood. Its address can be found here.

Its a weekly game on Fridays with our first game will begin on 28th of November (after the exams) for 3 hours (from 6:00pm to 9:00pm).

Anyone interested?

I'm not sure if this is advertising spam or not... Some more experienced admin should check that, then remove this sentence from my post. Also, since I'm a little tipsy, spellchecking for me would be nice.
Regardless, afew questions you may answer for those that are interested: What player experience do you hope for? Novice, or people that've played before?
What happens if someone misses a week? Does someone else play their character and they still get the experience, gold and items?
Do people need any of their own books/character sheets/etc, or is it all supplied?
Is it a serious role-playing atmoshpere, or a "let's have fun and snacks and roll some dice occasionally, while taunting each-other" atmosphere?
And now for a question that really matters to me: Can we be drunk? Can we drink during the session, or is it a no-alcohol location(I presume the latter, but if i'm wrong, the chances of me coming are at least triple what they are otherwise)?

My apologies if it is. I figure anime fans are typically interested in other geeky stuff so I'd give y'all a try. I would have posted to a more generic UWS forum but this was the only one I knew Wink

What player experience do you hope for? Novice, or people that've played before?
Either are welcome. With 4th edition only 4 months old we're all still pretty new, so if someone is completely new they're more then welcome to come and play.

What happens if someone misses a week? Does someone else play their character and they still get the experience, gold and items?
Good question! We all just ignore the fact the character is missing (as in no in character explanation is given) and play on without the character. They do get a share of gold and XP (but not magical items or anything unless someone feels like giving them an item next game Wink). I do this so the game doesn't become unbalanced with some players being 1 or 2 levels above others. However no-one controls the missing character because you'll have your character sheet (unless you'd like me to keep it), but also its hard enough for me at least to keep track of my character when I'm playing and definitely too much when I'm DMing.

I do ask though that if you can't make it to let me know ASAP. I don't like running a game with less then 3 players so if enough people can't make it I'll just that week's game.

Do people need any of their own books/character sheets/etc, or is it all supplied?
You'll definitely need any books you want to use. I assume everyone has the PHB, but for other treasure rewards I'll bring a copy of the stats so you can copy them down for yourself. Although if you plan on buying a lot of items from the Adventurer's Vault or another supplement I'd definitely recommend getting the book.

Speaking of books, any WotC book is fine to use as well as most 3rd party books. I might ask to have a look at the 3PP book, but I'm not likely to say you can't use it. Also any of the racial write-ups in the back of the Monster Manual are fine to use as is any from Dragon or in another WotC book. 3PP races are also probably okay to use as well.

I'll also be bringing a small selection of pregen characters to the first session that anyone is welcome to use for the duration of the game. Minis will also be used and while you don't have to bring your own, you might end up with something that doesn't really match your character description Wink

Is it a serious role-playing atmoshpere, or a "let's have fun and snacks and roll some dice occasionally, while taunting each-other" atmosphere?
It'll depend largely on the group. Roleplaying will definitely be a key part of the game, but I'm not going to be some rp nazi and say "everything said at the table is said by the character."

And now for a question that really matters to me: Can we be drunk? Can we drink during the session, or is it a no-alcohol location
I'm assuming its a no-alcohol location. But I guess you could always e-mail/ring the store and ask Wink I won't be drinking though.

Does this answer all your questions? Does anyone have any other questions?

No idea if I'm coming or not, but if I do, I'll be sure to be using a bottle-cap until I find a monopoly piece or something else that stupid. Take THAT, anyone that takes things too seriously!

Yeah, it's supposed to be called ggs burwood now.

There's also old people that play D&D on Saturdays, but it's the worst day to play because all the Pokemon, YGO and Magic kids are there.

This is sad... I'm an anime fan and I am interested in D&D... I've never played it before, but I always wanted to play ;_;
Do does this game runs for a whole week? Or is it just every Friday? (I'm a lil bit confused about that...)

Other than that, I'm interested! But I'll think about it, since the whole buying a book, character stat sheet and getting a character piece thing sorta confuses me... @_@

Don't worry, I'm also a fan of anime Wink

I've never played it before, but I always wanted to play ;_;
Great stuff. I was in the same boat until earlier this year Smiley I always figured no-one played in Sydney.

Do does this game runs for a whole week? Or is it just every Friday? (I'm a lil bit confused about that...)
Its only every Friday. But its the same story each friday. So think of it like a book. You play through chapter 1 on the 28th, and then on the 5th you play through chapter 2, etc, etc.

Other than that, I'm interested! But I'll think about it, since the whole buying a book, character stat sheet and getting a character piece thing sorta confuses me...
All you absolutely need to buy is the Player's Handbook. Everything else is entirely, 100% optional.

You can get a free character sheet to download from the official website if you click here. Alternatively you can use one of the premade character sheets I'll be bringing.
