Thanks to everyone who showed up to the BBQ today! It was a pretty amazing turnout.  Hug

Except for running out of drinks and bread OH NOES!

I have saved most of the stuff we used (tongs and such) and I am going to scrounge up a box to fit it all in so we have something to take to BBQs later. There might be one later in the semester if there's interest and no objections.

Thanks for everyone who helped out today, thanks to David, Paul, Maho, Rei-chan, Julian
(and sorry for the people putting out the bread and the person cutting up the sausages, 'cos I dont know your names  dead)

HOWEVER, I personally think the outcomes weren't so great.
We didn't have enough food, and people were waiting long periods of time wait for the food.
So.. how about a review?

Firstly about the supply, from what I herd, there was about 40+ people on the RSVP list.
Me and Paul went for about 130+ sausages and 120+ slices of bread.
But even with that, many people only had one sausage, which means we had a crowd A LOT larger than the RSVP list. (sorry for not foreseeing that  Sad)
(Would Maho mind counting up the numbers on 'member with RSVP', 'member no RSVP' and 'non member'?)
And about the drinks and sauce, that part.. that's pretty much our bad. (but man, those 36 liters of soft drink was heavy)

Then about cooking, David did a great job, and that's probably the fastest it can get.
I think the problem was that we need to had it started earlier, so we'll have stock that can be served right away.

So.. a few suggestions to conclude that:
1) We obviously need more hands, need people for preparation, for cooking for everything! If you're interested in helping, please sign up as chibi with Maho(personnel@suanime.org)
2) Please RSVP to events people, a few clicks will make preparation way easier.
3) Possibly that we can put an "aim" for events? Such as publicity, serving members or both. So we'd know to expect more people or not(although we should've figured out from the location..)
4) For non-members I think we should ask them to either sign up or cut them out, unless they did inform they will be coming.

Well, lets hope we'll do it better next time.

Oh, and for the guy that was playing with the knife, that was dangerous, NOT cool.

Two dollars really isn't much.
But if we go anywhere beyond that, we might as well just ask them to join.

And I don't think money is the main issue here (since the union funds us Tongue)
Just thinking that we should be more of a group.

But hey, this is an anime club, they want food they can go somewhere else and get their own.
Why should we be servicing people who doesn't even have a single bond to us?

Well, first up, I think it's great that turnout was fantastic, in all my years in joining, I've never heard of 40+ ppl! Go SUAnime, you guys rock! XD

Now, regarding the BBQ...

From what I've heard (from my sources), it appears that some ppl (within the anime club) have been going for seconds and thirds etc etc... this will also result in lack of supply for late comers who can only rock up after 1pm cos of class... No food = uncool

Perhaps another suggestion would be to ensure everyone has had one sausage sizzle, and if there're still heaps leftover, then ppl can go for seconds... but yes, totally agree with more volunteers!! If you want to discourage random ppl getting cheap food, you can always double the price to $4 and then they'd better join up instead XD

Wish I was there to help out, but unforch I work now so... QQ

well, i signed up to be a chibi at o-week, but i didn't get a call/email asking me if i could help. However, I reckon the bbq was pretty good (granted i got there a bit earlier wen there was food and drinks). wished i could hav stayed and talked with sum of you guys, but i had a meet up with my friend so i had to leave right after getting my food Sad

Thanks everyone for coming along and making our first event such a blast!

I think overall we did good, food lasted till the end and even then we had sausages left (just no bread or drinks...)  We tried out a new venue today than what we've used in previous years and now we know it gets people coming over, will need to find out from Maho whether anyone new signed up because of it.  We couldn't in our wildest dreams guess just how much of a turn out we'd end up with from members alone let alone the rest so all I can say is I'm thrilled and we'll try to step things up based on that in the future!

As for the next big events the plans in the works are Trivia night and Mini Animania!

Sorry for Chibi's not being called in for help, still working on mailing lists and compiling info from registration but you can all count on e-mails in the coming weeks Cheesy

So again, thanks everyone for providing us with such a rad day and I can't wait to get to know all of you more!  Remember to say hi,

Ben
