Art Jam/Mecha Day

Date: Saturday 21/03/09
Time: 11:00am – 5:00pm
Mecha trip at 11:30 am
Location: Harry Heath Room, Lvl 3 Building 1, UTS Tower (Across from the printing centre and multi-faith rooms).

Contact Number: 0422 888 938

Description:

They say that art is like food for the soul. They also say that jam is food for the stomach (particularly when spread across toast or mixed with peanut butter, if you’re into that kind of thing). So we’ve jammified some art to bring you a tasty and soulful Art Jam! Come and feast upon your creative impulses by drawing, writing or folding! But if your idea of art involves 40-ft giant robots, then you’re also in luck. Come along and we’ll take you to a nearby hobby store where you can buy a model mecha, then come back to UTS and build it with us! If its your first time, you can combine with other members to get help. Otherwise, if the artistic and the dexterous pursuits are beyond your capabilities, then come along for some Jenga, Mahjong and other board games, or just come to meet and chat with other members. Some come along to the Art Jam/Mecha Day and have some fun.

Other Info:
Q: What if i don't have a Mecha?
A: This is fine we will be leaving to look at the mecha stores near UTS at about 11:30

Q: I don't have clippers!
A: There will be some clippers available for cutting but it is prefered to have your own so you dont have to wait 10mins to cut one piece.

Q: I can't draw!
A: Neither can I! You can come along and fold paper into epic shapes or even buy a mecha or just come to play games and socialise.

Feel free to post any questions in here and ill get back to you before Saturday.

wouldn't cutting be better as the pieces might get lost on the way there.

Buy some nice Bandai clippers from HobbyCo for 15 dollars each. Served me well in my final months in Australia before I had to chuck them out. R.I.P.

I would also recommend getting a small hobby/miniature file to get rid of those pesky flashing leftovers...or a Xacto knife (aka scalpel, or craft knife) to scrap them off.

For those of you who are interested, most 'normal' Gundam/mecha kits can be anything around from $40 to $100...

If you get an Xacto knife, might want to get a cheap cutting mat just in case.

Sounds interesting ... I'm in Smiley

I thought there was actual jam involved Sad Now there's just paper and plastic ... it's no where as nice as jam ... it's just more fibre-y ...
