Hi guys, give you heads up on how Bandai works, I’ve been asked a lot of questions regarding certain kits and so on, hope this explains the inner working of how I manage Hobbyco’s Bandai Gundam import program.
As you guys know we are the official Australian Bandai Gundam distributor, we import direct from Bandai Japan and supply other retail stores here in Australia; we bring in on average 20 foot shipping container of kits per month sometimes more. Bandai’s gundam & plastic catalogue is simply huge they even do cars and aircraft! Like most Japanese manufacturers they don’t have the stock sitting in the shelves readily available unless it’s something new and there’s a crazy demand for it. They do production runs of certain kits at certain times, there are times where it could be month or years till they run a certain kit again, I tell a lot of our customers if you see it in the shop grab it because it could be a while until they run it again, a fine example is the massive GP01 FB perfect grade kit released a few years ago *sigh*
even I missed out on that one, still waiting for them to offer that again.
Each month I receive e-mail’s from Bandai on what’s currently being produced, new releases and limited production offers I place the order in advance till they release it and ship it out of Tokyo. One of the cool perks of this job is I receive samples of all the new release models that Bandai is about to release, its kind of like Christmas morning lol It always makes my day when I see the fedex man comes into my office and delivers a big box with the big bright red Bandai logo stamped on the side of it! The bigger the box the better!!!
Macross,Evangelion,Code Geass,Keroro and many other items that Bandai produce if offered to us we always order, however its all a matter of licensing
if we are allowed to sell in Australia then they will give us access to it. Were hoping to bring in some Macross stuff in soon, I know a lot of you guys are hangin out for that..I’m a big Macross geek so I’m doing everything I can to get these kits in.
Any questions about certain kits that you guys are after post it here and I’d be able to let you know if it’s on its way or there’s a production schedule in the near future as well as what’s coming in to the shop.
