AnimeUNSW competition event!

This year: AMVs!!! Create the best AMV ever in AnimeUNSW!

Last year's competition event involving the Look-a-Like Directors comp was such a success that AnimeUNSW will now hold yearly events for members to participate in. This year as our first competition event for 2010, we encourage members to create a short AMV (not exceeding 30 secs) of their own choosing.

AMVs are a growing trend in anime culture over the past few years, and as a dedication to these past years of endless fan work for countless animes in producing some of the very best AMVs in the world, the events team of AnimeUNSW has decided to follow suit!

There will be three genres that members may enter into.

These three genres are:
-Funniest AMV
-Most Romantic AMV
-Best theme song for selected anime
*Possiblity of more themes will be included!*

Each genre will have a prize for the member who satisfies the judges tastes for each genre!

How will the competition be judged?
The competition will be judged in two different processes.
The first process of the AMV competition is that the members are required to submit the AMV on the AnimeSydney.org forums in the AnimeUNSW section of the forums. There will be a topic exclusively for submitting the AMVs to be judged there! Submitting them somewhere else other than the topic specified will not be judged!
Here, the event team and special judge, Adam Zhang, our former gaming director, will be judging the AMVs! We will select only a handful.
The second process will still be judged by the event team and Adam, but however, the members get to vote on which AMV is the best for each criteria! We will select 5 of each criteria and have the members cast a vote. This will also be hosted on the AnimeSydney.org forums! To link to the topic, click here!
The winners of the competition will be announced at the end of year party which will be hosted around the end of October/early November. We will also screen these winners at the end of year party as well as include the AMVs which we believe to be deserve a commendation from us!

Submissions end on the 10th of October 2010!
Voting will commence on 11th of October 2010 and will be closed on the 22nd of October 2010!

Since this is an Online and Visual media based competition, there will be rules which need to be followed.

The AMV rules will be:
1. The AMV must not exceed more than approximately 3mins and must be more than 30 secs. Please do not submit a video of just a random anime clip with random music on it. It can consist of movie dialogs.
2. For the content in your AMV, please try to avoid any excessive violence, sexuality and adult language. STRICTLY no porn or hentai!
3. Each Competitor is allowed to submit a total of 12 videos max throughout the entire course of the competition (so 4 in each genre if you please).
4. The ACCEPTED FORMATS will need to be in wmv or avi. I intend to comply these at the end of the year for the viewing of our end of year party. Regardless if you win or lose, the AMV will most likely entered into the clip to commend your effort.
5. Please try to ensure that the AMV is of a good quality. So don't get your clips off YouTube or any streaming sites, and try to avoid having fansubs in them. I won't mark you down if you do but fan subs in an AMV are pretty annoying xD. REMEMBER TO include your name in the video.
6. When you submit your entry, please remember to include your name/nickname, the anime you used, and the mp3/sound you used for the AMV.
7. Anyone in AnimeSydney is also invited to join in and/or vote! However, there submission will not be judged in part of the AnimeUNSW competition and thus the prize will be strictly for AnimeUNSW members. However, if your AMV is really good, it might just be included into the screening at the end of the year!
8. Lastly, STRICTLY NO PLAGIARISM! You're all Uni students, so you should know why. If I catch anyone stealing other peoples work, all of your submissions will be excluded from the competition. No excuses. *We've seen enough AMVs to know who's who so don't test us lol*

For examples of what kind of AMVs you can make, here is an example of AMVs done by AMVhell. Click here!

Good luck to you all!!!

ah good question.

You can use any program that u want to make it.

recommended program is 'Windows Movie Maker' as everyone has that installed on their computer. If you'd like to use really professional programs to make it, that is totally up to u.

please upload the videos in a wmv or avi format and link it to the submission topic. you can upload the file onto youtube as well for people to watch it if you want, otherwise i will have to upload it onto youtube myself to allow people to view them. i won't take credits for them, as they will be submitted with the title "AnimeUNSW AMV Comp: Entrant [name]"
