i thought it is more divided amongst the gender lines, each "glomping" their obsession thingy majigy. and obviously it has to be an anime character of some sort, nobody calls a gundam moe. but it doesn't have to be sexual. i mean like chii, technically if you glomp her/it you are glomping a what we call anima (humanoid robot/computer).

i've always seen moe as being somewhat different to the norm, and exacerbating that different trait to elicit attration towards the character (be it the kawaii~ kind, or a sexual kind)

for example, the clumsy character can have a moe charm, there's the glasses-wearing girl, or the girl who is always sleepy and trying to wake up (that waking-up face/her actions can be moe charms) - small breasts can be a charm point too (altho i think the moe aspect with relation to breast size is that they are conscious of the size [see: pettanko]), and some mahou shoujo too

in the case of moetan, i think it did a parody on the term 'moe' itself. a loli girl (who is in high school ), she's a mahou shoujo with revealing transformations, has small breasts (and is sensitive to their being referenced), high pitched voice, at the end of the transformation one of her socks falls down and she has an 'uguu'~esque voice (tho that last one is my opinion )

fuuko from clannad is another moe-driven character. the younger girl with the funny voice, refers to herself in the 3rd-person, and has a quirk re: her 'starfish'

now that you said that, my in mind definition of moe has changed from something like sailormoon to something loli related. the thing is for the equivalent of moe to guys, i thought something like code geass would suffice, i mean those noodle boys look effeminate enough to put in a dress. and i felt really dirty for saying that just now, and i bet eve is going to hit me hard with her yaoi stick now cos i left my guard open.

for me moe is more like tendency to like a character from an anime more because of a particular attribute, doesn't have to be cute. i tend to like the mascot rather than any of the characters because they are cute . and with that i just felt myself open to a hell of a lot of attacks.
