I was thinking either my place, lotsa room to work and will comfortably to hold all of us or at hobbyco I'm considering setting up a bunch of tables under the stairs and the spray booth in the office. Also workin on trying to secure a spare room in the QVB,talkin to centre management atm, only catch is they would most likely charge us for using it,this would be perfect if I can pull it off lol
I think every forthnight is manageable. U guys geed up for this lol

oh hey rhyan, the gundam kits seem to like to leave white marks from the sprue offcuts more than tamiya model kits. any hints on how to avoid these things? they run fairly deep into the plastic and i've been cutting them much higher than i should which leaves a lot of filing to do. this slows me down a lot because i have to keep a much more careful work with the model. i've only finished the torso so far and it took me about 7 hrs so far.

I find the quickest way is to cut with a sharp blade, helps me to avoid filing too much, and by using the blade as a makeshift file it speeds up the process, but you have to be careful or you will leave scratch marks.

I think its the nature of the plastic that Bandai uses in their kits, thats why I always tell people not to cut too close otherwise you will get those unsightly stress marks or gouge the plastic it is especially noticeable on dark colors such as blue and red. Unfortunately 7 hours is about right since you are making an MG Zaku ask Ed about his MG Shinaju lol, he finished one arm and a shoulder @ Gunpla MKII....I still suggest doing it the hard way which means cutting as far away and filing it down then sand with 1200 once you finish the whole model you can do a final polish with some compound to get rid of any fine scratches that is if you aren't painting the model. If you are painting the model you can afford to cut closer since it doesnt matter if you get the stress mark on the plastic since primer and paint will hide and fix any flaws. Personally I do it the slow way because any imperfection will be magnified 100x when you paint your model and even more if left unpainted. It all comes down to preparation a good example is my Avalanche Exia that i'm working on at the moment I've been working on that thing for around 1.5 months and so far all I've done is cut all the pieces from the runners, airbrushed 2 colors as well as ling all the pieces,Ive done no construction as yet lol below is my usual process…its slooooowwww and time consuming but the end result is definitely worth the effort…I probably finish around 4-6 MG a year if I have lots of spare time right now its more like 2 1. Wash all runners 2. Prime all parts while on the runners 3. Cut all parts, file and finish with sand paper 4. Airbrush pieces 5. Clear Coat Gloss 6. Line pieces 7.Assemble + Decal 8. Final seal of flat coat clear Not sure if you saw this thread I posted last year about removing scratches from plastic http://www.animesydney.org/forum/index.php/topic,6340.0.html

^ Hi David! Well here's an example of a previous model that I posted last year http://www.animesydney.org/forum/index.php/topic,6367.0.htmlThis model was built out of the box unpainted, added decals just a quick build, All I did was do the panel lines with a Fine Grey Gundam marker that we sell here in the shop and was then clear coated with Gunze flat clear spray. Couple of tips when using a Gundam marker only make a single line pass, be light and swift don't press too hard, dont go back and forth otherwise the line will become too thick, you want the line to be as fine as possible, if you make a mistake or wander off the panel line use a soft white eraser to rub it out and start again. I rarely use a Gundam marker to do my panel line since I use thinned paint to flow it into panel lines this achieves a finer line only draw back is its time consuming and somewhat messy. Once you have lined the whole model do light dusting coats of flat clear around 5-8 times then do 2 heavy wet coats to seal it all in.. sometimes if you spray a heavy coat from the start it ends up messing up your panel lines by washing it all way into a puddle lol. Always hard to write about it,easier to understand if I show you, as I said from previous post i'll be holding regular technique workshops here at the shop for guys who want to perfect their Gunpla modelling, i'll let you guys know when I sort things out..

Good idea, I'll work on compiling the old posts about gunpla techniques once I'm free so you guys can have easy access to them.
