I have to agree with Noless. I honestly prefer the simple battle system... something like Scissors-Paper-Rock, which is what I like to think.
For example, if you have Pokemon that you like, because of their looks and such, and they're considered NU or "Low Tier," that kinda ruins the game, since in a tournament, people tend to go for pokemon that of the higher tier and have a greater move pool, as well as stats.
But that is what makes Pokemon... Pokemon. Trying to train your Pokemon to the very best XD

The beauty of Pokemon is that it caters for the more casual player, with an easy-to-understand battle system, where you can use your favourites to be the very best. At the same time, it has a brilliantly complex and intricate system which creates an intense, rich and deep metagame, for those who want to look. I'd like to think that people who are interested in skill and knowledge based competition would participate in this.

Well, most of the time I can fit in my most favourite Pokemon into my team. Sure, I'm pretty much a casualfag, but it's still fun going against human opponents and losing (and the occasional win!) instead of just beating up the AI all the time.

Probrably should have rethought the 'weekly' coz I see this getting old fast to the majority of people.
You cannot organise serious gaming competitions in the club and expect people who show up to get involved. And it is a serious competition if you need to calculate and manually enter the best possible team.

On a side note, I RNG manipulated a Shiney Cindaquil from an Egg @ 90 doubletaps.... never doing it again coz it freaken breaks the game... but that cindaquil is totally legal so Ima use it when I get the chance harhar

Ooo... although out of topic... since VV reminded me of it.
If anyone has a Wii and you can play wiiware and such, try out Pokemon Rumble. You easily become addicted all the way til you can't beat the final tournament. It's best with friends though.
I used to have friends come over just to play it. Catch your own pokemon and customise its attacks.. Well only 2 attacks.
Simple controls, easy to get into and yea... maybe someone could bring it to the gaming sessions so other people can play too. Uses wii motes.
I don't mind bringing my wiimotes if needed.

Now on topic.. I think.
What do you guys think the best, or mostly used Pokemon and combination with it (excluding Blissey XD)?
I mean, I see a Garchomp in lots of teams since it's a glass cannon.

Garchomp Tyranitar was so common back in the heyday of DP.

Scizor Heatran now.

Garchomp is sooooooooooooooooo good. Not nearly as good as Scizor is now though. Scizor is amaaaaaazing.

Garchomp for the win.
Choice Band Scizor and Choice Scarf Heatran I presume?

Hidden Power moves are so hard to pull off in the games.
Breeding or catching one for Hidden Power is harder than IVs.

The Hidden Power and IV system in the game is so stupid. It pretty much makes competitive Pokemon on the DS inviable except for those with buckets of free time. IV system should be removed, Hidden Power should be determined by a simple "Hidden Power" value.
