Konban wa!
I'm Jonno, or JoGoFo if you prefer. I'm quite new to the Anime scene - call me a n00b.

My first anime series: Seto No Hanayome.
My reaction: Brilliant!
My afterthoughts: Why did I start with the best out there?

So now my quality expectations of Anime are probably too high.

Other Anime I've dabbled in (but not finished):
- Final Fantasy Unlimited (also been a FF fan since I was young)
- Sailor Moon (who didn't as a kid...)
- Love Hina (first two episodes)
- To Love Ru (first two episodes)

Not a huge collection. The last two were my attempts to find something on the same level as Seto No Hanayome. I also haven't even begun exploring some of the different genres.

Why I'm here: To get to know some people (local) who share the same interests
My Goal: Find some quality Anime!

A little more about me:
I work in IT, 22 yrs old, in early stages of learning Japanese language.

Pleased to meet you all!

Welcome to the forums. Regarding good anime, well you would be hard pressed to find a better anime out there.

Personally I like Full Metal Panic alot but there are reasons for that.

^^ shows that I've seen, ordered by my vote for them [of course, there are some I really liked many probably don't, so take out the ecchi shows, and should be a decent list for a newcomer (imo) Tongue]
Seto no Hanayome was good yeh - but there's better out there imo Wink

welcome to the forums Wink

Thanks for the responses. I've also had Full Metal Alchemist recommended to me - is there a link between that and Full Metal Panic? Sequel or something?

Different story completely. I still think FMP is better story wise, but thats the light novel.

Excel Saga is decent in it's own right, but the series has its ups and downs. If you want an hour of pure random, wtf-is-going-on, why-cant-i-stop-laughing, overly-suggestive goodness, I definitely recommend:
Puni Puni Poemy

it is by the same people that made Excel Saga, but just condensed into a much shorter feature, with all the good bits of Excel Saga, and none of the bad Smiley

welcome to the world of anime. glad to hear you didn't start off with a generalized mainstream anime. since you start off with Seto no Hanayome, you might like "NHK ni Yokouso!" (aka. welcome to NHK), "Kage Kara Mamoru" and "Itazura na Kiss". the last one is one of my favorite in that genre but the author passed away before she finished the last book (such a shame, its such a good comedy). it was allegedly finished off by another author commissioned by her husband in memory of his late wife. expect the last few parts of the anime to feel disjointed.

FMP in my personal opinion is good up to the fumoffu season. the second raid has a very annoying villain character which ruined the entire thing for me. another obscure anime i recommend is "A Chinese Ghost Story" "nineteen19" and "Sword of a Stranger", they are fairly old but the plot is good. nineteen19 might not be to everyone's taste because it is slow and slice of life genre.  "a Chinese Ghost Story" is an adaptation of a very famous Chinese film trilogy of the same title, the ending was given a happy ending as opposed to the original tragic ending. if you want to watch it, i recommend watching the anime one first then the film, otherwise it'll feel weird.

Thanks again for the suggestions XD

I'm back, after several days with no internet (nobody paid the phone bill!) and coming very close to exceeding my cap. Now with an increased download limit (50gb Smiley)

So now I've downloaded FMP (looks good) and currently downloading Excel Saga. Puni Puni Poemy looks over the top - but I'll give it a shot  Cheesy

As for all the others recommended - they're all next on the list Smiley

Cheers!
